If you don’t have a hard life before the good life then someone in your family must have had it, either your grandparents or your parents, then you inherited it from them. Otherwise, you must have a hard experience and make hard decisions before a good life will surface in your life.
“What about luck, man?” You may say.
In most cases, what people call “luck” always turns out to be unseen efforts that are compounded into great results.
We all want a good life; you want it, and I want it as well, to build a mansion, drive the best cars, have a loving family, make money that can sustain even your fourth generation, and live the rest of your in genuine and consistent happiness.
In my view, a good life is having the freedom to be whoever you want to be, do whatever you want, wherever you want, and with whomever you choose.
But we are mostly been distracted by the good life that we forget how and where it comes from.
So today, let’s discuss a bit where the good life comes from.
I was listening to one of the motivational speakers of the '90s, Jim Rohn. He is my favorite; he said, “Your choices are what made you who you are.”
After giving a thought to this statement, I couldn’t agree more. In my words, I’d say,
“A good life is made up of hard and difficult choices, while a bad life is made up of easy choices.”
In other words, if you desire a good life, you must make some difficult and breathtaking choices, but if you desire a hard life, it’s easy, especially these days when social media continues to rob us of our valuable time.
I watched the famous Hollywood actor, Denzel Washington in an interview say, “Put your phones down, read, learn, exercise, and get better.”
His interviews are never a fun vibe though, lol. But if you truly want something, you have to get serious about it, I learned that from Jim Rohn as well.
A good life doesn’t come from playing around all day long or scrolling through social media for hours, nor does it come from watching countless Netflix series.
Don’t get me wrong there, I watch a lot of movies, but I don’t allow them to steal my time; when it’s time for a movie 🍿, I watch as much as my eyes can take, lol. But when it’s time to work, I stick to the plan.
Make the hard choice to read helpful books when your friends are rocking at the club night, make the hard choice to exercise every day while others prefer sleeping, make the hard choice to eat healthy while others prefer junk foods, and make the hard decision to work when everyone else is thinking otherwise.
If you follow the 97%, you will be like the 97% but if you follow the 3%, you will be like the 3%.
There are so many ways to kill a rat, but you can not tell that to a rat-phobic person; he will consider chasing the rat instead of killing it.
I told myself when I was getting into high school that I didn’t have to follow the crowd; I only needed to follow and grow myself. And that decision helped me throughout my years in high school. Of course, it’s something to make a decision and another thing to discipline yourself according to the decision.
We have compiled so many plans this year, haven’t we? But going according to that plan may become challenging, if not already. But do not relent; continue with the hard tasks, and your life will get better.
It is a hard decision to stick to the plan but if you desire to have a good life, you have to do it.
But rest assured, we will have the good life we desire if we continue down that path. Sometimes, we may not live to enjoy it, and that’s life, but our family will certainly benefit from it.
Don’t let that dissuade you; I only stated that fact to inform you of the possible reason why people tend to take the easy path of life. And now that you are aware of it and still choose to continue. Nothing can be able to stop you.
In conclusion; a good life is having the freedom to do what you want, where you want, and with whom you choose. And a good life comes from making hard decisions. But how do we get a good life (passion and purpose); we will discuss that in later articles.
